One of the most famous landmarks - of any kind - in the world, the prehistoric stone circle of Stonehenge is an iconic image perfectly captured in this Stonehenge canvas print. While it is estimated that the standing stones themselves began to be erected around 2500BCE, the site was being used for six centuries before that time, the surrounding earthworks being dated at around 3100BCE, or well over 5000 years ago. Theories abound as to how on earth the prehistoric cultures that venerated the site actually moved such colossal worked stones to the site, some of them from Wales and beyond, as well as what Stonehenge was actually for - it pre-dates the Celtic druidic culture by thousands of years.
