On the eve of the Second World War, the Ministry of Information ordered that three motivational posters be printed to help boost morale. One of the three was the Keep Calm and Carry On poster which was intended as a last resort. The poster was never displayed and as a result remained relatively unknown to the general public. In 2000, owners of Barter Books rediscovered the poster and since it has risen to fame due to the fact that it completely epitomises the model of the British way. Photo in Canvas has developed the Keep Calm and Carry On collection and now offers a range of 27 different designs.
