At the beginning of World War II, the newly-formed Ministry of Information ordered that three motivational posters be printed to help boost morale in the British public. The Keep Calm And Carry On poster was the final one of the three, intended for distribution should the German army invade Britain. As this never actually occurred, the poster was never displayed and all copies were assumed destroyed until the year 2000, when a copy was discovered by a bookseller. The poster completely exemplifies the traditional attitude of the British in the face of adversity, and so has become increasingly popular in recent years.
